LexCircuit

LexCircuit is the daily briefing on law and legal tech, written for practicing lawyers. Each story is one real-world development: what a court ordered, what a regulator issued, what a bar said about a lawyer's use of a tool, what a study found, what a company shipped or raised, what a firm announced. The story summarizes the development in forty to eighty words across every source that reported it, links every source, and puts the primary source first, so a reader who wants the order, the rule or the opinion itself is one click from it.

The site is built to be read in three minutes and left open. Seven things lead the page each morning. Below them is everything from the week, sized by how many outlets reported it, and filed by jurisdiction and kind so that "every standing order out of N.D. Tex." or "every ethics opinion this year" is a page of its own.

What we cover

Courts: standing orders, local rules, sanctions and rulings on AI and technology in litigation, by court and by judge.

Regulators and legislatures: statutes, rules, guidance, consultations and enforcement that reach legal practice, in the United States federally and by state, and in the United Kingdom, the European Union and other jurisdictions as they act.

Ethics bodies: bar and law society opinions and rules on lawyers' use of AI.

Research: studies, benchmarks and serious empirical reports on AI in legal work, with what they measured and how.

The companies building AI for legal work: what they ship, what they raise, and who they hire, reported from the outlets that covered it.

Law firms: what firms do, reported by others as news, and what firms say about themselves, carried on the Firm Wire as announcements, attributed to the firm and never asserted by us.

Method

Reporting is gathered from the primary documents (dockets, registers, opinions, regulators' own pages, firms' own pages) and from the trade and general press. Articles about the same development are grouped into a cluster. The story summarizes the cluster, not any one article, and says so when the sources disagree. Every story is filed under a story type, jurisdictions, and where they apply a court, a regulation, a vendor or a firm, and each of those is a page of its own.

Stories are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by a human before publication. Nothing publishes unreviewed. Stories state facts. There is no analysis, opinion or rating anywhere on the site, and the content format has no place to put one. The Blog and the Podcast carry signed opinion from the people behind the desk and are labeled as such; the stories never do.

Corrections

A corrected story keeps its URL, carries a dated notice saying what changed, and is listed in the corrections log. A retracted story is withdrawn from the feed and kept at its URL with the reason.
