EPA approves Oklahoma plan for interstate SO2 pollution transport

The Environmental Protection Agency approved portions of Oklahoma's state implementation plan on October 8, 2026 demonstrating the state satisfies Clean Air Act interstate transport requirements for the 2010 1-hour sulfur dioxide national air quality standard. The requirement bars states from transporting pollution that significantly contributes to nonattainment or interferes with maintenance in other states. The rule takes effect November 9, 2026.
