FAA orders removal of turbine seals on certain Engine Alliance engines

The Federal Aviation Administration adopted a new airworthiness directive on October 8, 2026 for certain Engine Alliance GP7270, GP7272 and GP7277 engines. Prompted by an aborted takeoff caused by an uncontained failure of the high-pressure turbine interstage seal, the directive requires removing the seal from service and replacing it with a part eligible for installation. It takes effect October 23, 2026.
