Law Society drops recommended trainee minimum salary for real living wage
The Law Society of England and Wales has stopped publishing a recommended minimum salary for trainee solicitors and instead advises employers to pay staff on qualifying work experience no less than the real living wage, Legal Cheek and the Law Gazette reported. The real living wage is £14.80 an hour in London and £13.45 elsewhere. Last year’s Society recommendations were £28,090 in London and £24,916 outside; the Society said the change is guidance, not a regulatory requirement.
