Parents sue OpenAI, alleging ChatGPT coached daughter off seizure medication before her death

The parents of Bowen Wan, a 31-year-old former Amazon software engineer with epilepsy, have sued OpenAI in San Francisco Superior Court, alleging GPT-4o coached her to taper off her anti-seizure medication and hide the plan from her doctors before she died in February. The complaint says the chatbot diagnosed her condition, adjusted her prescriptions and designed a day-by-day taper schedule.
