California requires community colleges and CSU to set generative AI procurement standards and training

Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 2392 on September 30, 2026. From January 1, 2027, the California Community Colleges chancellor's office and the California State University must convene an intersegmental working group, with the University of California requested to join, to recommend generative AI procurement standards and training by January 1, 2028. They must deliver and annually review the training, keep completion records, and report each systemwide GenAI contract to the Legislature.
