California makes repeat DUI convictions wobblers carrying up to three years and tightens Good Driver discount eligibility
Governor Newsom signed AB 1546 on September 25, 2026. The act makes repeat DUI convictions wobblers: a DUI within 10 years of two or three prior violations is punishable by 120 days to one year in county jail, or by 16 months, two, or three years under Penal Code section 1170(h), plus fines of $390 to $1,000. With four or more prior violations in 10 years, the offense is a straight felony. The act also amends Good Driver Discount eligibility.
