SDT again refuses restoration for solicitor struck off for dishonesty

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal rejected a second application by Raj Rajan Mariaddan to return to the roll after his 2022 strike-off for dishonesty, Legal Futures reported on September 25, 2026. The SDT criticised a lack of candour about presenting his former wife and carer as a legal-assistance client, found insufficient evidence of structured CPD and rehabilitation, and ordered £5,000 costs. The tribunal noted the application fell within the six-year period usually treated as premature.
