The Solicitors Regulation Authority has withdrawn several prosecutions before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, sometimes late, after reviewing whether dishonesty allegations could be established, chief executive Sarah Rapson told the SRA board. Board papers also show plans to recruit up to 20 supervisory staff, £24 million returned to PM Law clients, 55 live immigration firm investigations and a projected £9.9 million deficit for 2025-26.
The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal on October 6, 2026, granted former Post Office general counsel Jane MacLeod's application to attend her disciplinary hearing remotely from Australia, over the Solicitors Regulation Authority's objection. The SRA has charged her with failing to cooperate with the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry. The four-day hearing is set to start January 25, 2027.
The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal struck off Fiona Hunter Blair Parsons after she diverted nearly £250,000 in client payments to her personal account while a conveyancer at Lambe Corner in Hereford, Legal Futures and the Law Gazette reported on September 28, 2026. Parsons pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position and received a 30-month prison sentence. The SDT approved an agreed outcome with the SRA and made no costs order because of her finances.
